Srikanth Addala is the director of this captivating Indian Telugu-language historical action drama film “Narappa” (2021). It is an adaptation of Vetrimaaran’s 2019 Tamil movie “Asuran”, which was originally based on a novel by Poomani titled Vekkai. The two filmmakers were inspired by Vetrimaaran’s work, taken from Poomani’s book, and made this movie one of the most exciting things to watch.
Under Suresh Productions and V Creations respectively, D. Suresh Babu and Kalaipuli S. Thanu produced “Narappa,” which features Venkatesh as well as Priyamani, Karthik Rathnam and Vasishta N. Simha among other renowned performers such as Nassar, Rao Ramesh and Rajeev Kanakala.
This film captures its narrative with great artistry through Shyam K. Naidu’s camera work, Marthand K. Venkatesh’s editing skills and Mani Sharma’s evocative music score.” Narappa” was shot in different settings across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana from January 2020 onwards.The critically acclaimed film “Narappa” premiered on July 20, 2021 through Amazon Prime Video where it has been able to engage viewers with its compelling narration alongside amazing performances.
:: Storyline ::
A story of kinship, revenge and tenacity unfolds in the heart of 80s Anantapur district. In a climate of tension and violence, Narappa, an ordinary farmer, and his son Seenappa wend through their way. Among them is Sundaramma, Narappa’s wife, Basavaiah her brother and Bujjamma their daughter all trapped in a web of oppression and injustice.
The tale takes us back to that fateful day when ruthless landlord Pandu Swamy tries to grab Narappa’s land for himself. A tragedy occurs when Narappa’s son Munikanna challenges the tyranny of Panduswamy that becomes the beginning of a range of irreversible consequences.
Narappa together with his family run away from the claws vengefulness embarking on a journey that centers around survival and revenge. While confronting other enemies like Gampanna who is fearsome; it is during this confrontation that secrets from Narappa’s past are revealed which show how much betrayal and bloodshed there has been in their history.
Narappa finds solace amidst chaos in standing firm to defend thosehe loves best. His path crosses with Shankaraiah, a exploitative landlord whose atrocities betray his true colors as a bigot.. For justicereasons ,narappafinds himself on war-pathwiththe oppressors culminatingin freedomand redemptionare attaintogetherin what becomes the final battle
It is after dust settles down that we see someone like Narappa still standing tall as an emblem of resistance.
